摘　　要：赵元任在其四种著述基础上建立了具有解释中国语言文字特点的符号语言学,形成了富有自己学科特色的符号语言学学派。《语言与符号系统》对符号语言学理论进行了系统全面的阐述,是最重要的代表作。其学科特色体现在学术思想前沿性、学科交叉性、语言用例丰富性和辩证思维方法论等方面;其学术与应用价值在于形式与意义并重,语言研究紧密联系社会生活,语言研究与科学技术相结合,重视语文现代化研究以及给后人留下进一步讨论的空间等方面。准确把握赵元任的学术思想,从系统和发展的视角理解著述的内容,正确对待其历史局限性,找到进一步需要完善和解决的问题,就可以推动语言学的学科发展。On the basis of his four works,Yuen Ren Chao established the symbolic linguistics with the characteristics of explaining the Chinese language,and formed a distinct school of semiotics with unique subject characteristics.Language and Symbolic Systems is a systematic and comprehensive exposition of symbolic linguistics theory,which is the most important masterpiece.Its subject characteristics are reflected in academic frontier,interdisciplinary,language case richness and dialectical thinking methodology;its academic and application values lie in studying language from form and meaning equally,studying language closely related to social life,combining language and science or technology;putting a high premium on study for language modernization and leaving space for future generations.Accurately grasping Yuen Ren Chao’s academic thoughts,understanding the content of the work from a systematic and development perspective,correctly treating its historical limitations,and finding the problems to be improved and solved,can promote the development of linguistics.
