Historic districts preserve the memory of urban social changes, but most of their protection and renewal suffer from issues like formalization and inefficiency, and they frequently disregard community values, which erodes the uniqueness of neighborhood life, dissolves regional culture, and leaves residents'basic needs unmet. As a result,an increasing number of locals are becoming aware of local social affairs and hope to get involved in them in order to exercise their legal rights. This paper investigates the development path of the Ciqikou Historic District in Chongqing and establishes an evaluation index system for community participation in historic districts based on the perspective of community participation. It does this by using basic research methods like AHP,SPSS,and ArcGIS.Semi-structured interviews and surveys are employed to get insight into the users'perceptions of residents'satisfaction with community involvement in advancing the historic district's development.Lastly, the study provides solutions for improving the protection and development route of historic districts in terms of well-defined property rights, better amenities, resource revitalization, and institutional governance. It also suggests a model of a synergy mechanism based on community engagement.
