摘　　要：《沃普萧纪事》是美国小说家约翰·契弗的第一部长篇小说。小说生动地描绘了以沃普萧家族为代表的中产阶级斑驳陆离的郊外家庭生活。其中,因父亲的缺失,导致了沃普萧“貌合神离”的家庭命运。采用家庭系统理论深入探讨契弗借由小说《沃普萧纪事》中父亲缺失与家庭结构对家庭关系的影响,突显父亲一角在家庭中的关键作用,同时折射出作家渴望通过固化家庭纽带来走出家庭困境从而迎来个人及家庭新生的夙愿。The Wapshot Chronicle is the first novel created by American novelist John Cheever.It vividly depicts the patchwork suburban family life of the middle class represented by the Wapshot.Among them,the absence of fathers leads to the family fate of the Wapshot,who are‘separated from each other’.In this way,this study adopts the family system theory to explore the impact of father absence and family structure on family relationship in Cheever’s novel The Wapshot Chronicle,highlighting the key role of the father in the family,and at the same time refracting the writer’s longing to get out of the family dilemma by solidifying the family bond,so as to usher in the new life of the individual and the family.
