Amidst the burgeoning wave of multiculturalism in the United States, the study of American ethnic literature has experienced a notable upswing. However,in stark contrast,Russian-American literature remains largely neglected by both domestic and international scholars. This oversight is rather surprising given the remarkable achievements within Russian-American literature,an ethnic genre boasting the emergence of globally renowned poets, novelists, and theorists that have sculpted a distinctive panorama within world literature. The roots of Russian-American literature took hold in the 1920s,evolving through four distinct waves intertwined with sociohistorical contexts. Each wave introduced novelists and poets whose artistic flair mirrored the unique characteristics and prevailing spirit of their respective eras.Notably, the English literature crafted by these writers for their survival diverged significantly from the English literature produced by native Americans.Despite the unavoidable cross-cultural transformation undertaken by Russian-American writers in their quest for a new cultural identity, their creations uniquely encapsulated Russian linguistic and cultural elements and identities as well as translingual artistic qualities.
