母国文化与族裔身份:以《折纸动物园》中的物本体书写为例

摘  要:当代美籍华裔作家刘宇昆在其推想小说《折纸动物园》中,通过混血儿杰克与折纸玩具间的互动,思考二代华裔如何接纳母国文化及族裔身份。在“思辨实在论”相关理论的观照下,可以发现小说中折纸玩具的灵性虽由人赋予,却逐渐脱离人类掌控,成为具有本体论意义的独立存在。它们不仅引导人类体悟物的情绪,还能够跨越时空阻隔促成主体的身份认同。主人公杰克虽试图抵制物的接近,却无法阻止折纸本体性的显露。当他如其所是地留神物之本相时,折纸的物性得以敞开,揭示隐藏的真相并激发主体身份之思。In his speculative story“The Paper Menagerie”,Ken Liu(Liu Yukun),a contemporary Chinese American writer,gives thought to how Chinese overseas accept their motherland culture and ethnic identity through an interaction of Jack,a half-caste,with the paper menagerie.Observed with the relative theory of speculative realism,one may find that even though the sentience of the paper menagerie in the work is humanly endowed,it gradually becomes detached from the human control.They not only prompt humans to perceive the emotions of inanimate objects,but also transcend time and space to facilitate the subject’s achieving of identification.Although Jack,the protagonist,tries to resist the approach of matter,he finds it impossible to stop the appearance of the ontology of the paper menagerie.When he takes note of the thing itself,the thingness of the origami opens,revealing the hidden truth and provoking reflection on the identity of the subject.
