摘　　要：对佛教在英国的相关研究最早出现于维多利亚时期。这一时期的英国正处于社会发展的关键时期,精神与物质上的双重刺激为佛教在英国的勃兴创造了有利条件。佛教在维多利亚时代的前中期大多以宗教学研究与文学加工为主,期间涌现出多位具有代表性的佛教学者与相关的研究成果。然而在后期,由于社会思潮的改变佛教在英国逐渐成为当时混合宗教的重要基础。维多利亚时期的佛教发展是东西文化互相借鉴与包容的典型案例,同时也是“西方中心论式的全球交往观”的一种体现。The relevant research on Buddhism in Britain first emerged during the Victorian period.During this period,Britain was in a crucial stage of social development,in which the dual stimuli in terms of spirit and material created favorable conditions for the vigorous development of Buddhism in Britain.In the early and middle stages of the Victorian period,Buddhism was mainly focused on religious studies and literary adaptation,producing a number of representative Buddhist scholars and related research.However,in the later period,due to the change of social ideological trends,Buddhism gradually became an important foundation of the then mixed religions in Britain.The development of Buddhism during the Victorian period is a typical case of mutual learning and tolerance between Eastern and Western cultures,and it is also an embodiment of the“Western-centered view of global interaction”.
