摘　　要：高等教育发展能够加快城市化进程。基于2011-2021年西部地区各个省份的面板数据,采用3个不同的面板模型比较分析其影响机制,研究高等教育经费支出对西部地区的影响。研究发现:在考虑不同因素的影响下,加入中介变量后,高等教育经费支出对西部地区城市化程度的影响显著且持续增强;随着时间的推移,房地产市场和公共卫生机构的改善以及劳动力受教育程度的提高也对西部地区城市化进程起到积极促进作用,政府在其中也起重要作用。宜加大对等教育的经费投入、加强高等教育与地方产业结构的协同发展、注重教育的普及和质量提升、鼓励开展跨学科的研究与合作,以促进西部地区城市化的可持续发展。The development of higher education can contribute to the acceleration of urbanization.Based on the panel data of each province in the western regions from 2011 to 2021,this paper uses three different panel models to compare and analyze the impact mechanisms,and studies the impacts of higher education expenditure on the western regions.The study finds that the impacts of higher education expenditure on western region urbanization are significant and continuously enhanced after adding intermediary variables,taking into account different factors;the improvement of the real estate market and public health institutions,as well as the improvement of education of the workforce also contribute positively to the process of urbanization in the western regions;the government plays an important role in this process.It is desirable to increase investment for equal education,strengthen the synergistic development of higher education and local industrial structure,focus on popularization and quality improvement of education,and encourage interdisciplinary research and cooperation to promote the sustainable development of urbanization in the western regions.
