Following the outbreak of the Pacific War,the British public was increasingly concerned about China, yet the British media lacked representatives on the ground in China. There were also different opinions within the British government regarding the reporting of China's War of Resistance. The military, out of strategic considerations, advocated for a reflection of the realities of China's War of Resistance in the media. The British government,in line with its policy towards China, decided to lead the media to give as much positive coverage and support to China's War of Resistance as possible on the basis of objective reporting, and further formulated plans to encourage publicity of China's War of Resistance. Thus, the British public embraced a more nuanced view of China and became more concerned about the factors undermining China's War of Resistance. The British government's cautious attitude on reporting China's internal situation won the partial favor of Chinese public opinion.Nevertheless, the British media's coverage of China during wartime did not lead to a fundamental change in the British government's perception and policy towards China.
