The aim of this study is to explore the effect of natural Chinese herbal medicine additive and Fagopyrum tataricum(F.tataricum)composite on pig’s growth performance and intestinal health. The pigs included in the study were divided into 4 groups, with 10 pigs in each group, namely control group(basic ration),Chinese herbal medicine additive group(basic ration+Chinese herbal medicine additive),Chinese herbal medicine additive+F.tataricum composite group(basic ration+Chinese herbal medicine additive+F.tataricum composite),and F.tataricum composite group(basic ration+F.tataricum composite).Following results are obtained:(1)crude protein digestibility:no significant different was detected among different groups;(2)crude fat digestibility:while both Chinese herbal medicine additive group and Chinese herbal medicine additive+F.tataricum composite group showed significantly higher crude fat digestibility;(3)intestinal flora:the intestinal flora diversity appeared obviously higher in the Chinese herbal medicine additive group and Chinese herbal medicine additive+F.tataricum composite group than in the control group and F.tataricum composite group. As revealed by the research findings here, adding natural Chinese herbal medicine additive and F.tataricum composite in the pig feed could improve the nutrient digestibility and intestinal flora diversity of pigs, though showing little effect on their growth performance. This study may provide certain scientific support for the development of more efficient pig feeding strategies.
