The stability of seamless track with guard rails on bridge is intricately affected by various structural defects, such as damage ballast-retaining plates, voided sleepers,or failed fasteners. To clarify the relationship between these defects and the stability of the seamless line,a finite element model incorporating guard rails was developed. The results indicate that, under single-defect conditions, such as damage ballast-retaining plates, voided sleepers,or failed fasteners, the allowable temperature rise decreases, leading to a reduction in track stability.Furthermore, when comparing voided sleeper conditions with fastener failures under equivalent scenarios, the critical temperature rise for voided sleepers is slightly higher than that for failed fasteners. In cases involving combined defects, once the number of failed fasteners exceeds two,if the number of failed fasteners surpasses that of voided sleepers, the allowable temperature rise becomes independent of the number of voided sleepers. This study provides a theoretical basis for the maintenance and repair of seamless lines on bridges, ensuring the safe operation of the track system.
