The theory of"release of fire stagnation"originates from the Huangdi Neijing, and Professor Xiong Jibai believes that"five stagnations"can reflect both abnormal changes in the weather and abnormal qi movements of the organs in human body, which may lead to the occurrence of diseases.Abnormal ascending and descending of qi can lead to its stagnation, which in turn results in obstruction of qi flow and blood circulation, causing stagnation and turning into fire, resulting in fire stagnation ultimately.Fire stagnation constitutes the initial pathogenic factor of many diseases in clinic, and over time it can further give rise to heat toxicity, inducing visible swellings, unnamed tumors, multiple tumors, and other diseases in the body.Puji Xiaodu Decoction has the effects of clearing heat and toxicity, dispersing wind and eliminating pathogenic factors, bearing the implication of"release of fire stagnation".Professor Xiong Jibai believes that any disease with a pathogenesis of"fire stagnation"can be treated with Puji Xiaodu Decoction, modified when necessary according to specific conditions, and significant efficacy can be achieved.
