“传播”与“宣传”:国际传播研究本土化进程中的概念竞合

摘  要:宣传话语的道德化和意识形态化,使得美国主流传播学叙事与宣传研究相疏离。受这种主流叙事的影响,中国传播学前期普遍接纳了宣传与传播的二分法;其后,出于国际交往和学术交流的需要,中国国际传播研究进一步去“宣传”,导致对外宣传/国际宣传等概念日趋边缘化。研究发现,相较于国际传播/对外传播研究逐渐升温,对外宣传/国际宣传研究则进展缓慢,在发表数量、学者合作网络和研究机构数量等方面都远逊于前者。但是,“宣传”概念在中国新闻传播学科内仍具较强的研究潜力。研究认为,在国际传播研究本土化进程中无须避讳“宣传”概念,应结合本土语境形成关于“宣传”的共通性理论资源,在论证其学术性和正当性的基础上,将其重新纳入国际传播研究的整体视野中,使之成为中国本土国际传播研究、回应中国国际传播研究自主性问题的突破口和创新点。The moralization and ideologicalization of propaganda discourse have alienated American mainstream communication narratives from propaganda research.Affected by this mainstream narrative,Chinese communication studies generally accepted the dichotomy between propaganda and communication in the early stage;later,due to the need for international exchanges and academic exchanges,Chinese international communication studies further de-propaganda,resulting in external publicity/international research concepts such as propaganda are increasingly marginalized.This paper finds that while international communication/external communication has become an increasingly popular field,external publicity and international publicity have developed slowly,and are far behind the former in terms of the number of publications,scholar cooperation networks,and number of research institutions.However,the concept of“propaganda”still has strong research potential within the discipline of Chinese journalism and communication.Therefore,in the process of localization ofinternational communication research,there is no need to avoid the concept of“propaganda”,but should combine the local context to formulate the common theoreticalresources about“propaganda”.On the basis of demonstrating its academic nature and legitimacy,the concept of“propaganda”will be re-incorporated into the overall vision of international communication research,making it a breakthrough and innovation for Chinese local internationalcommunication research and a response to the issue of the autonomy of Chinese international communication research.
