摘  要:四川唐宋石窟中所谓的“万菩萨”造像,与其他地区的万菩萨图像不同。据安岳长庆寺第3龛小菩萨的名号及造像特征,可推定这种造像可分为两类,分别据《大通方广经》和20卷本《佛说佛名经》开凿,从盛唐延续至五代宋初,具有礼忏灭罪的信仰内涵,如何命名尚需探讨;而未能盛行的原因,或与具有同样信仰内涵的其他造像的流传有关。The statues depicting the theme of the“Wan(meaning many)Bodhisattva”in the Tang and Song dynasty caves in Sichuan are noticeably different from their counterparts in other regions.Based on the names and characteristics of the small bodhisattva statues in niche 3 at the Changqing Temple in Anyue,it can be inferred that there were two types of such statues,which were carved according to the Sūtra of the Universal Ornament of Attaining Buddhahood and the Sūtra of Buddha’s Lec ture on the Names of the Buddha,respectively.This theme began to appear in the Tang dynasty and continued to rise in populari ty in the Five Dynasties and early Song dynasty,and became associated with the Buddhist practices of worship and repentance.Topics relevant to these statues that remain to be discussed include the name“Wan Bodhisattva”,which appears clearly in various historical documents,as well as the reason that this artistic motif was eventually discontinued.The latter was likely related to the circulation of other statues that expressed the same religious connotations.
