摘 要:格雷厄姆·斯威夫特的小说《杯酒留痕》中的地域风景书写与小说人物的人生叙事交织融合,杰克的亲友们去往马盖特抛撒其骨灰的空间旅途穿插于复杂交错的人生记忆之中。通过一系列流动的、边缘的“非地方”和一次次偏离既定路线的绕路,这一旅途改变了人物空间上的禁锢,使他们得以从戏谑低微的观景视角重新审视庄严的景物,从个体私密的角度体验曾经不属于他们的风景。这种新的风景体验不仅促成了小说人物对景物的重新赋义,也激发了他们更为主动的人生选择和道德决定。他们对风景的重新临场、诠释和占有,应和着他们对人生主动权的争取。Writings of place and life intertwine closely in Graham Swift’s novel Last Orders.Jack’s friends’spatial journey to Margate to scatter his ashes threads through thick layers of interwoven memories and life experiences.Through a series of fluid,borderline“non-places”and repeated detours off the designated route,the journey frees Jack’s friends from their spatial confinement,enables them to re-view lofty sites from lowly,comic perspectives,and to intimately re-experience landscape that was once alien to them.This renewed engagement with the landscape not only endows it with new meaning,but leads to the characters’more positive efforts in making life choices and moral decisions.Their re-siting,reinterpretation,and reclamation of the landscape coincide with their endeavor to regain some control over life.
