摘 要:Dear Editor,Rotavirus(RV),a member of the Reoviridae family,is non-enveloped virus with a genome consisting of 11 segments of double-stranded RNA.It possesses a three-layered shell structure, and can be classified into types A–L based on the VP6 serotype, with species A being the most common in mammals.Apart from causing severe diarrhea in infants and young animals, rotavirus is also identified as a potential cause of biliary atresia,a serious condition characterized by bile duct obstruction, leading to major complications such as growth retardation, jaundice, cirrhosis, liver failure, and death(Wang et al.,2020).Several strains, such as rhesus rotavirus(RRV),have been demonstrated to induce biliary atresia symptoms in BALB/c mice(Mohanty et al.,2020).Additionally,orthoreovirus type 3,another member of the Reoviridae family, has been identified as a causative agent of biliary atresia(Averbukh and Wu,2018).
