Exposure to low temperatures significantly increases the risk of fractures and negatively impacts bone quality, possibly through pathways involving energy distribution, neuropeptide Y regulation, and plasma exosome activity, leading to bone loss.Conversely,high-temperature environments may offer protective benefits by safeguarding bone quality and improving bone microstructure, which is associated with a reduced risk of fractures.Additionally, temperature can directly regulate the growth and metabolism of chondrocytes, thereby influencing bone growth. This article analyzes the dual effects of environmental temperature on bone metabolism from both basic research and epidemiological perspectives, providing insights into disease prevention and proposing temperature modulation as a potential treatment approach. The research suggests new strategies for clinical management of osteoporosis and bone health, particularly in the context of extreme temperatures that are increasingly prevalent in modern climates, indicating that appropriate adjustment of temperature exposure may emerge as a novel method for preventing and treating bone diseases.
