摘 要:本文利用眼动技术,结合理解花园路径句的正确率,研究了中国英语学习者在“直接宾语/主语”类花园路径句加工中的重新分析。结果发现:1)受试在句法消歧区的早、晚期眼动指标上触发花园路径效应,进行了重新分析,而在语义消歧区晚期眼动指标上诱发的花园路径效应和正确率结果表明受试进行重新分析的程度不彻底;2)歧义区长度与工作记忆的交互效应仅在花园路径句句法消歧区的晚期眼动指标上显著,二者在正确率上均与句子类型存在显著的交互效应。据此,本研究构建了英语花园路径句加工的重新分析进程图:重新分析过程始于句法消歧区的早期阶段,二语者虽然能够利用句法和语义信息进行重新分析,但重新分析的程度不彻底。同时,歧义区长度和工作记忆交互影响重新分析的过程,且分别影响重新分析的程度。Using eye-tracking technology and comprehension questions regarding garden path structures,this study investigates reanalysis during the processing of English“direct object/subject”garden path sentences by Chinese learners of English.The results show that:1)Garden path effects are triggered in the syntactic disambiguation region in both early and late eyetracking measures,indicating that reanalysis begins early.Garden path effects triggered in the semantic disambiguation region in late eye-tracking measures and the results of the comprehension questions suggest that reanalysis is never fully completed and resolved for many sentences;2)Significant main effects and a significant interaction are observed between length of the ambiguous region and working memory across late eye-tracking measures.Meanwhile,a significant interaction between the aforementioned factors and sentence type is observed in the comprehension questions.Based on these findings,we present a schema showing the time course of the reanalysis in Chinese L2 learners'English garden path sentence comprehension.We postulate that Chinese learners initiate the reanalysis process from the syntactic disambiguation region in the early stages;however,they are often unable to fully utilize syntactic and semantic disambiguation cues to reanalyze disambiguated syntactic structures completely.We suggest also that length of the ambiguous region and working memory interactively influence the reanalysis process,and both factors independently influence the degree of reanalysis.
