城市收缩对城市代谢效率的影响——来自中国城市的经验证据

摘　　要：城市是资源的重要消费者,其代谢效率是实现城市可持续发展的关键。但在城市发展进程中,城市收缩问题逐渐凸显,桎梏了城市代谢效率,成为亟待解决的现实问题。基于2007~2021年中国287个城市面板数据,实证检验城市收缩对城市代谢效率的影响。研究发现:我国城市代谢效率总体呈现曲折上升的态势,但不同地区间存在显著差异;城市收缩对城市代谢效率具有显著的抑制作用,在考虑稳健性与内生性问题后仍然成立。机制研究表明,高科技企业发展水平、产业结构升级是城市收缩抑制城市代谢效率的关键机制,同时,数字经济能够减弱城市收缩对代谢效率的负面影响。最后发现城市收缩对城市代谢效率的抑制作用存在非对称性,抑制效应主要存在于中西部地区、外围城市以及资源型城市。Cities are important consumers of resources and the efficiency of their metabolism is key to achieving sustainable urban development.However,in the process of urban development,the problem of urban shrinkage has gradually come to the fore,shackling the efficiency of urban metabolism and becoming a real problem that needs to be solved urgently.Based on panel data of 287 Chinese cities from 2007 to 2021,we empirically test the impact of urban contraction on urban metabolic efficiency.It is found that:China's urban metabolic efficiency generally shows a zigzag upward trend,but there are significant differences between regions;urban contraction has a significant inhibitory effect on urban metabolic efficiency,which still holds after considering the robustness and endogeneity issues.Mechanistic studies show that the level of high-tech enterprise development and industrial structure upgrading are the key mechanisms by which urban contraction inhibits metabolic efficiency,and that the digital economy can attenuate the negative impact of urban contraction on metabolic efficiency.Finally,it is found that there is asymmetry in the inhibition of urban metabolic efficiency by urban contraction,and that the inhibition effect mainly exists in the central and western regions,peripheral cities,and resource-oriented cities.
