摘 要:Introduction Gender and sex are related to important quality and safety issues in scientific, health, and clinical research.Sex refers to biological characteristics, while gender encompasses the sociocultural norms, identities, and relationships that shape communities and organizations,as well as influence actions, behaviors, contexts, and knowledge. Both gender and sex intersect with other social categories. In this context,in addition to sex or gender, the intersectionality refers to overlapping or interdependent systems of discrimination by more than one factor, such as age, disability, ethnicity, geographic location, socioeconomic status, and sexuality, among others.
