Sulfur-containing wastewater produced in the vacuum potassium carbonate of coking plant has high COD value and contains a large amount of sulfide.Graphite electrodes and iron and copper electrodes were used as working electrodes to explore their electrochemical remov-al properties of sulfur-containing wastewater. However, the results show that the electrochemical direct oxidation technology using graphite electrode cannot achieve an ideal desulfurization and COD removal effect. On the contrary, the electrochemical flocculation technology using iron and copper electrode can almost completely remove COD and sulfide from the sulfur-containing wastewater.Compared with the copper electrode having heavy losses, the iron electrode can achieve near-complete sulfur removal effect and COD removal efficiency under the condition of low loss with the elec-trolytic voltage of 2 V and 3 V.
