摘　　要：The strategic importance of China’s border regions can be understood from two perspectives.On the one hand,we need to place the issue within its historical context.Our ancestors have bestowed upon us an exceptional gift:a vast and unified multiethnic country,and a diverse and integrated Chinese nation with a large population.
