从经世转向到对“中华新史学”的探索——以柳诒徵及其弟子为考察中心

摘　　要：柳诒徵的身份意识经历了从儒者到教授的转变,经世实践也由政治转向教育。柳诒徵的教育经世重心在中国传统文化与史学的批判性改造,而其与弟子对于“中华新史学”的探索则是一个重要路径。“中华新史学”立足于中国传统史学的人文主义精神,吸收了西方史学理论和新人文主义思想,形成了较为成熟的理论体系,提出“以史畜德”的史学价值观,强调“义必谨严”、融贯中西的历史研究方法,主张中国本位的人文主义立场。他们所代表的南派和科学史学派所代表的北派之争,其实是中国史学近代转型的路径之争,北派以科学化为追求,南派以伦理化为特色,核心则是中国史学和文化的前途命运问题。“中华新史学”的探索说明,中国文化和史学的近代转型可以通过传统的现代阐释与改造找到方向,而不必通过文化的断裂。Liu Yizheng's identity had undergone a change from a Confucian to a professor,and the problems which he solved also changed from politics to education.His education focuses on the critical transformation of traditional Chinese culture and history,Liu and his disciples'exploration of“Chinese New Historiography”is an important path.Absorbing Western historiography theory and new humanism thought,“Chinese New Historiography”is in accordance with the humanistic spirit of traditional Chinese historiography,and forms a relatively mature system of theory.Liu and his disciples put forward the idea of historiographical value that“virtue bases on history”,emphasizing the historical research method with“strict principles”,and integrating Chinese and Western methods,in addtion to,they advocated the humanistic Chinese stand.The dispute between the Southern school represented by Liu and his disciples and the Northern school represented by the scholars who advocated history of science school is actually a dispute over the paths of the modern transformation of Chinese historiography.The Northern school pursues scientize of history while the Southern school pursues ethics in history.The core of dispute is the future and fate of Chinese historiography and culture.The exploration of“Chinese New Historiography”shows that the modern transformation of Chinese culture and historiography can find its path through the modern interpretation and transformation of traditional culture,rather than through the rupture of culture.
