霍桑《红字》的基本隐喻集萃与阐发--基于海斯特的沧桑跌宕和人海沉浮

摘　　要：纳撒尼尔·霍桑传世名作《红字》始终以字母“A”作为小说线索,利用具身经验的多方视角,描摹出主人公海丝特·白兰坎坷的“罪—罚—赎”人生波折,对读者联想与情感的激发是基本隐喻的构建效果。从当代隐喻学研究视角出发,以Grady基本隐喻理论为根基,尝试探索字母“A”在海斯特“罪—罚—赎”各阶段人生历程中的基本隐喻运作机制及认知动因。研究发现,该字母在女主人公不同人生阶段展现出多元内涵,可被识解为由五花八门的具象事物与直接经验作用而成的一系列基本隐喻,其生成过程高度依赖身体经验与外部世界的相互作用,是描写主人公海丝特人生起落变幻的重要依托和理据动因,具有不菲的文学研究价值。By collecting various sorts of entities from the concrete physical embodiment.Nathaniel Hawthorne's masterpiece The Scarlet Letter,with its theme built around letter"A",sophistically depicts the"Crime-Punishment-Redemption"miserable life process of the heroine Hester in order to construct the theme.By doing so,it not only triggers the readers'diverse imagination and affection,but also exerts mighty constructing power of the primitive metaphor.On the basis of Grady's Primary Metaphor Theory originated form contemporary metaphorology.this article explores the cognitive mechanism and motivation of primary metaphors hidden in different symbolic connotations of letter"A"during Hester's"Crime-Punishment-Redemption"life cycle.It reveals that from the fresh perspective of contemporary metaphorology.the symbolic values that underlies different life stages of the heroine can be constructed as various types of primary metaphors whose mapping forms play a crucial role in the development of Hester's life process.Those primary metaphors in The Scarlet Letter narrates with a heavy reliance on the interplay between physical embodiment and the cultural background,significantly accommodating dual metaphorical literature researching values.
