“船”的传播实践:鸦片战争前后中英交往中的物质性媒介考察

摘　　要：近代中英交往过程中,“船”不仅发挥着运输的功能,还是联结不同主体、传递信息的重要物质性媒介,与社会中行动者行为、观念及关系网络的建构关联紧密。考察发现,“船”通过承载意义表征和社会实践两条路径嵌入中英交往结构之中,对信息及信息传播方式进行重构。在表征层面,“船”的“符号外延”成为地理“去蔽”、实力展演和规章制定的话语手段。在实践层面,“船”一方面凭借更高效的传播“效率”,重塑中英两国在地理空间上的时空感知,加剧鸦片战争的紧张态势;另一方面,“船”依托动力牵引、流动灵活、空间转译等特点,不断冲击以“广州制度”为主的交往框架,成为重组中英跨文化传播网络的重要基础设施之一。In the process of Sino British exchanges in the early modern times,“ship”not only played the function of transportation,but also was an important material medium connecting different subjects and transmitting information.It was closely related to the behavior,ideas and relationship network construction of actors in society.It is found that“ship”is embedded in the structure of Sino British communication through meaning representation and social practice,and reconstructs information and information communication mode.In the aspect of representation,the“symbolic extension”of“ship”has become a discourse means for the geographical“concealment”,performance of strength,and formulation of regulations and guidelines.In practice,on the one hand,with more efficient“efficiency”of communication,the“ship”reshaped the spacetime perception of China and Britain in the geographical space,and intensified the tension of the Opium War:On the other hand,relying on the characteristics of dynamic traction,flexible mobility and spatial translation,the“ship”has constantly impacted on the communication framework dominated by the“Guangzhou system”,and has become one of the important infrastructure for restructuring the Sino British cross-cultural communication network.
