中外合作办学背景下高校图书馆国际化与本土化探索——以上海纽约大学图书馆为例

摘　　要：在高等教育国际化进程下,国际教育项目和中外合作办学蓬勃发展。文章采用案例分析的方法,深入研究上海纽约大学图书馆在馆藏建设、人员配置和服务模式等方面的具体做法。通过对图书馆在不同发展阶段的策略选择和实施效果进行分析,总结其在国际化与本土化融合方面的经验。研究表明,中外合作办学背景下的高校图书馆,应在充分利用国际资源的同时,注重本土化需求的满足。在构建多元文化团队,创新服务模式,以及灵活运用数字化工具等方面,在国际化与本土化之间找到平衡,从而更好地支持学校的教学和科研工作。With the rapid advancement of internationalization in higher education in China,international education programs and Sino-foreign cooperative education initiatives are flourishing.However,how libraries support internationalized curricula and address the needs of faculty and students from diverse cultural backgrounds remains a relatively under-researched area.This article aims to fill this gap by examining the strategies employed by the NYU Shanghai Library to strike a balance between internationalization and localization within the context of Sino-foreign cooperative education.Through a case study approach,the article delves into the library s practices in three key areas:collection development,staffing,and service delivery,offering insights into how libraries can effectively support the unique mission of international education programs.The article begins by introducing NYU Shanghai,a pioneering institution that serves as a“testing field”for Sino-US cooperative education and the university’s mission to bridge the Chinese and Western educational systems.This dual focus brings both opportunities and challenges.The library must navigate the complexities of building compatibility between the two systems while supporting the academic community.The Library has adopted a dual approach to collection development:1)leveraging the centralized electronic resources acquisition model of the NYU global network and playing a unique role in shaping the global electronic resource collection,and 2)gradually decentralizing and localizing its physical collection development to meet the specific needs of NYU Shanghai s academic programs.This hybrid strategy ensures that the library supports both the needs of students and faculty moving across NYU s extensive global network and the requirements of local curricular.Staffing is another critical factor in the library s success.The article highlights the importance of assembling a team of librarians and staff with international educational backgrounds and a shared commitment to the
