摘　　要：The epidemiology of major trauma in Italy reflects the current European trend.Most injuries come from road crash,domestic,and work-place accidents.During recent decades,the improvement of trauma systems led to a dramatic reduction of preventable deaths.This ar-ticle describes the history,development,and current organization of the Lombardy trauma system,which has been one of the first to be developed in Italy.
