“诗哲之争”与“古今之争”中的荷马史诗

摘　　要：“诗哲之争”与“古今之争”是西方文艺思想史中围绕荷马史诗展开的有关理性与感性孰优孰劣、复古与创新孰是孰非的争论。前者的本质是以苏格拉底和柏拉图主张的哲学思维、理性思维对以荷马为代表的“诗性思维”、感性思维的挑战,后者则是以贬低荷马与捍卫荷马为表象的近代新科学与古典知识的矛盾对立。在这些争论中,荷马史诗始终处于争议的中心,一方面显示了荷马史诗作为西方文学源头不可撼动的经典地位,另一方面体现了其强大的思想启迪作用。关于荷马史诗的争论奠定了诗学研究的基础,形成了许多重要的文学理论与批评方法,并不断为后来的研究者提供思考的养分。The"debate between poetry and philosophy"and the"debate between the ancients and the moderns"in the history of Western literary and artistic thought are disputes revolving around the Homer′s Epics regarding which is superior,ra-tionality or sensibility,and which is right,retro or innovation.The essence of the former is the challenge posed by the philosophi-cal thinking and rational thinking advocated by Socrates and Plato to the"poetic thinking"and sensory thinking represented by Homer.The latter,on the other hand,is the contradiction and opposition between modern new sciences and classical knowledge,manifested as the belittlement and defense of Homer.In these disputes,the Homer′s Epics have always been at the center of con-troversy.On the one hand,it shows the unshakable classic status of the Homer′s Epics as the source of Western literature;on the other hand,it reflects its powerful role in inspiring thoughts.The disputes about the Homer′s Epics have laid the foundation for the study of poetics,formed many important literary theories and critical methods,and continuously provided nourishment for the later researchers′thinking.
