On the Debate over the Superiority of Li Bai and Du Fu during the Goryeo and Joseon Periods

摘　　要：朝鲜半岛的“李杜优劣”之争既受到中国“李杜优劣”之争的影响,从“李杜优劣”之争中既可看出朝鲜半岛文人心态以及文学思潮的演化,又可看到其对朝鲜半岛文坛的影响。在“李杜优劣”之争的影响下,朝鲜半岛兴起了杜甫式写实诗歌和李白式浪漫诗歌两种范式,这两种诗歌范式交错发展,共同推动了朝鲜半岛文学的发展。After poems of Li Bai and Du Fu were introduced to the Korean Peninsula,they were avidly embraced there,thus sparking a long-lasting debate over their relative merits.Generally,there emerged three viewpoints:one favoring Du while disparaging Li,another extolling Li at the expense of Du,and a third that held both Li and Du in equal esteem.Yet the stance of equally honoring both has always predominated.The debate over the merits of Li and Du on the Korean Peninsula was mainly influenced by the similar debate among Chinese literati.In particular,the views of Chinese scholars such as Han Yu,Wang Anshi,Su Shi,Zhu Xi,the so-called“Seven Masters”of the pre-and post-Ming periods,and Yang Shen had a significant impact,although some Korean literati—taking into account the literary contexts of the Goryeo and Joseon periods—put forward new perspectives on the merits of Li and Du.From the debate over the relative merits of Li and Du,one can discern not only the mindset and literary trends of the Korean Peninsula’s scholars but also their connections with the broader literary community on the peninsula.The debate is intricately linked to poetry creation on the Korean Peninsula.Under the influence of Li and Du,two poetic paradigms emerged there:one modeled after Du Fu’s realistic style and the other following Li Bai’s romantic style.The intertwined development of these two poetic paradigms propelled the evolution of literature on the Korean Peninsula.
