The narrative of roads in the travelogues of Northwest China during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression underwent a transformation from constructing the"anti aggression"road to jointly building the"lifeline".In the context of semi-colonial history, the roads that were urgently needed to be built were endowed with the nationalist significance of resisting imperialist aggression. The documentary writing on the hardships of"saving the country through transportation"reflects the conflicts among the national construction level, the folk forms in Northwest China, and the modern industrial concepts. The focus on the establishment and operation of the Northwest Highway Administration reflects the strengthening of the central government's power management ability and political influence in the northwest. After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, the narrative of the Northwest Highway becoming a"lifeline",the emergence of ethnic minority people,Soviet drivers and other new anti-Japanese people showed the spirit of the times to unite all forces to fight together and build the country. The"road"of the northwest during the war is not only the road to resist foreign aggression,or the road to modern industrial development, but also the road of political power game and the road of modern nation-state concept construction.
