摘　　要：2016年英国加勒比裔女作家扎迪·史密斯第五部长篇小说《摇摆时光》问世,此作以第一人称视角叙述了“我”和另一名黑白混血舞者特蕾西的成长。在伦敦长大的叙事者因工作辗转多地,返非洲多次却并没有产生强烈的母国归属感。摇摆在两种文化中的流散加勒比裔,始终于“居间”的状态下游荡。文章借助加勒比流散理论,分析了叙事者的西非之行,并阐释了流散音乐、舞蹈及空间记忆场所带来的认同感与非家感,以及因地理位移导致的身份错位与连续性中断,进一步揭示了史密斯笔下新一代流散于世界各地的黑人对回归非洲故土的惘然无措。逐渐黯淡的母国认同凸显了当代黑人身份的杂糅性,这一变化是其在跨国主义、全球化潮流下的必然结果。同时,叙事者对身份主动的自我追寻也反映了当代黑人身份的流动性与多重性并非全然是负面的,而是隐含着身份重构的可能性。Zadie Smith,a British Caribbean writer,has been fruitful since her debut in the literary world,and her fifth novel,Swing Time,was published in 2016.This work reveals the growths of“I”and another mulatto dancer Tracy from the first person point of view.Growing up in London,the narrator travels around the globe frequently on business trips.However,her return visits to Africa fail to generate a strong sense of belonging to this homeland.This diasporic narrator who swings between the two cultures all along wanders in the state of“in-betweenness”.Through the analysis of“my”trip to West Africa,the paper illustrates the sense of both identification and unhomeliness brought to“me”by diasporic music,dance and sites of spatial memory,as well as the identity dislocation and discontinuity caused by geographical displacement.It further manifests the complex sense of loss of the new generation of blacks scattering all over the world on their return to the African motherland.Her gradually rarefied home identification presents the hybridity of the contemporary blacks,which is also the inevitable result of transnationalism and globalization.Additionally,the narrator’s active pursuit of her own identity also reflects that the mobility and multiplicity of contemporary black identity are not completely negative,but indicate a possibility of identity reconstruction.
