As a cultural phenomenon in postmodern society, online micro-dramas,in the context of accelerating society, have constructed a new type of visual cultural form linking tradition and modernity by virtue of its condensed and rich plot content and small and delicate space-time situation. However, this phenomenon also leads to the emptying and nullification of the meaning of the narrative turn. From the perspective of modernity theory, this study explores the characterization of the current narrative crisis and its underlying motives, aiming to reveal how online micro-dramas,as a modern information product, leads to the loss of narrative meaning and ultimately to the risk of narrative closure. In the multiple dimensions of character labeling, high suspense plot, and narrative flattening, online micro-dramas highlight the alienating characteristics of narratives.In-depth analysis reveals that the excessive proliferation of digital information, the unlimited expansion of consumerism, and the violent influence of accelerated culture have become the root of the narrative crisis of micro-dramas.Human narrative faces an unprecedented challenge, after losing patience and depth of narration,it falls into a profound maze of where to go in the direction of narrative.
