The Inverse-morphemes Combination is a special form in the development of Chinese vocabulary.Unearthed documents is one of the earliest Chinese language materials, preserving the original appearance of early written Chinese and being the most primitive and reliable material for exploring the occurrence and development of language phenomena.Previous researchers have mostly focused on hand-down literature as the research object, and obviously lack a key stage to explore this phenomenon from the source of written Chinese.Based on a review of existing unearthed documents,it is known that the phenomenon of the Inverse-morphemes Combination originated from Oracle Bone Inscriptions during the Yin and Shang Dynasties, prevailed in the Bronze Inscriptions during the Two Zhou Period, and declined in the Bamboo Slips and Silk Manuscripts during the Warring States,Qin and Han Dynasties.By examining the quantity, distribution, structure, and function of the Inverse-morphemes Combination in unearthed documents,we summarize the laws of their evolution and reveal the generation mechanism and development motivation of this linguistic phenomenon.
