从《英国病人》看迈克尔·翁达杰悬念叙事的建构与艺术特色

摘　　要：《英国病人》是2018年“金布克奖”获奖小说。迈克尔·翁达杰在这部作品中,通过层级性建构、嵌入性建构和含混性建构等多维叙事策略,展现了悬念与情节建构之间的内在关联,凸显了悬念叙事的独特风格和艺术魅力。在翁达杰的笔下,分解式悬念和顶针式悬念从横向和纵向两个维度,呈现了悬念层级性建构的叙事特色。误会式悬念、倒装式悬念、切入式悬念和映衬式悬念嵌入小说的情节发展之中,看似独立分散,实则相互交织,与具体情节紧密融合、互为依托。所指含混、意图含混和矛盾含混则从不同维度增强了情节发展的张力和趣味性,为读者带来了更深层次的审美体验。The English Patient is a novel that won the 2018 Gold Booker Prize in the UK.In this work,Michael Ondaatje uses multidimensional narrative techniques such as hierarchical construction,embedded construction,and ambiguous construction to demonstrate the inherent relationship between suspense and plot construction,highlighting the unique style and artistic charm of suspense narrative.In his novel,the suspense of decomposition style and thimble style,developing horizontally and vertically,exhibit the narrative characteristics of hierarchical construction of suspense.Moreover,the suspense of misunderstanding style,inverted style,cutting-in style,and contrasting style,embedded in the development of fictional plots,seem to be independent and scattered,but in fact they are intertwined and closely integrated with the overall plot structure of the novel.The narrative techniques of the suspense of ambiguous reference,ambiguous intention,and contradictory ambiguity enhance the tension and interest of plot development from different dimensions,bringing readers a deeper aesthetic experience.
