Macrophage polarization refers to the process by which macrophages acquire different functional phenotypes in response to specific microenvironmental stimuli and signals. This process is crucial for tissue repair and maintaining homeostasis, playing distinct regulatory roles in the body's physiological and pathological activities.N 6-methyladenosine(m^(6)A)modification is the most prevalent and conserved cotranscriptional modification in eukaryotic cells, and it is indispensable for regulating cell fate.By modulating gene expression,m^(6)A affects various biological processes such as cell development, differentiation, proliferation, and apoptosis. In recent years,it has been discovered that m^(6)A modification plays a key role in regulating macrophage polarization through its specific methyltransferases, demethylases, and binding proteins. This review focuses on the research progress regarding how m^(6)A modification regulates macrophage polarization, offering new insights into the epigenetic regulation of macrophage polarization mechanisms.
