Male infertility has become an important reason for the continuous decrease of global fertility rate, and the related emerging view suggests that oxidative stress is the main pathological factor causing sperm damage. It is a new elinical treatment idea to explore the treatment of male infertility with traditional Chinese medicine using antioxidant as an entry point. The related theory of"decline of the fire from the gate of life" has been reported in the clinical research of male infertility. The current article summarizes the theory of"decline of the fire from the gate of life",and investigates the relationship of oxidative stress and male infertility as well as the role of traditional Chinese medicine intervention in male infertility,in order to provide a new perspective for the treatment of male infertility with traditional Chinese medicine.
