During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the canals were closely connected with Mount Tai.The government dredged the spring water from Mount Tai to supply the canals, setting up officials and offices to manage it and enacting a series of related regulations. The culture of the canals also interacted with that of Mount Tai,as evidenced by historical records of sacrifices to Mount Tai in response to the smooth or blocked flow of the canal.Additionally,a temple dedicated to the deity of the canals was erected at the foot of Mount Tai,and the divine titles of Bi Xia Yuanjun(the Goddess of Mount Tai)and Mazu(the Goddess of the sea)underwent a process of fusion, being manifestations of the cultural integration of the canals and Mount Tai.
