英语讣闻的体裁结构潜势研究——以2021—2023年《经济学人》讣告专栏为例  

A Study on the Generic Structure Potential of English Obituaries—Taking Obituary Columns of The Economist from 2021 to 2023 as Examples

摘　　要：依据专门用途英语学派Swales的语步分析法和系统功能学派Hasan的体裁结构潜势理论,以2021—2023年《经济学人》讣告专栏的30篇讣闻为语料文本构建小型语料库。通过语步划分及频次计算得到相应英文讣闻的体裁结构潜势表达式及其特色语言风格。研究发现,在英文讣闻内存在14种结构成分,其中标题、点题下的姓名及职业、死讯中的死亡时间、死者年龄、生活经历中的行事风格以及尾声7种结构成分为必选成分,除行事风格外其余成分均按固定次序出现;语言风格除严谨肃穆外,更多了人性化的诙谐幽默,凸显逝者生前乐观精神。Based on the move analysis method proposed by ESP(English for Specific Purposes)scholar Swales and the generic structure potential theory developed by systemic-functional linguist Hasan,this study constructs a small corpus using 30 obituaries from the obituary column of The Economist from 2021 to 2023 as the corpus texts.The generic structure potential expressions and characteristic language styles of the corresponding English obituaries are obtained through the dividing moves and calculating frequencies.The research findings show that there are 14 structural components in English obituaries,among which 7 structural components,namely the title,the name and occupation under the topic indication,the time of death in the death notice,the age of the deceased,the style of action in the life experience,and the epilogue,are obligatory components.Except for the style of action,the remaining components appear in a fixed order.In addition to being rigorous and solemn,the language style also features a human-oriented humor,highlighting the optimistic spirit of the deceased during their lifetime.
