摘　　要：Pei Wenzhong(1904-1982),born in Fengnan District,Tangshan City,Hebei Province.He graduated from the Department of Geology at Peking University in 1927 and received his doctoral degree from the University of Paris in France in 1937,and was elected as a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences(Academician)in 1955.He was a famous prehistoric archaeologist and paleontologist and served as the vice president of the Chinese Archaeological Society,the president of the Chinese Association of Natural History Museum,and the director of the Beijing Natural History Museum.Starting in 1929,he led and participated in the excavation and research at Zhoukoudian area of Beijing,China.He was the first to discover the skull of Peking Man and is considered the founding figure of Paleolithic archaeology in China,as well as in the study of Quaternary mammals and stratigraphy.裴文中(1904-1982),1904年1月19日出生于河北省唐山市丰南县,1927年毕业于北京大学地质系,1937年于法国巴黎大学获得博士学位,1955年被选聘为中国科学院学部委员(院士),著名史前考古学、古生物学家,曾任中国考古学会副理事长和中国自然博物馆协会理事长、北京自然博物馆馆长。1929年起主持并参与周口店的发掘和研究,是第一个北京猿人头盖骨的发现者,是中国旧石器考古学、第四纪哺乳动物研究及地层学的奠基人。
