Objective:To explore the association between the Dietary Inflammation Index(DII)and the risk of death in patients with metabolic syndrome(MetS).Methods:This study utilized data from 2,573 patients with metabolic syndrome(MetS)sourced from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(NHANES 2007-2016).Weighted Cox proportional hazards models were constructed to assess the relationship between the Dietary Inflammatory Index(DII)and allcause mortality in MetS patients.Furthermore, the association between DII and allcause mortality within components of MetS was investigated. Results:Among the 2,573 patients,398 deaths occurred, with a median follow‐up duration of 101 months. In the adjusted weighted Cox proportional hazards model,a positive correlation was observed between DII and all‐cause mortality in MetS patients(HR:1.50,P=0.028).This relationship was more pronounced among patients with elevated blood pressure(HR:2.34,P=0.005).Conclusion:DII positively correlates with mortality in MetS patients, indicating that a proinflammatory diet increases the risk of death in this population.
