To investigate the physiological changes of body mass and digestive tract of Apodemus chevrieri in the Hengduan Mountains under high-sugar and high-fat foods, and to determine the effects of high quality foods on the physiological regulation of A.chevrieri.In study study,A.chevrieri were randomly divided into a high-sugar and high-fat group(experimental group)and a standard food group(control group). All the A.chevrieri were acclimated for 28 d under the conditions of room temperature of(25±1)℃and photoperiod of 12L∶12D,followed by the measurement of body mass, overall basal metabolic rate(BMR)and unit BMR,organ weight, digestive tract weight and morphological changes. The results showed that after 28 d of domestication, the mean body mass and the large intestine weight of the experimental group were extremely significant higher than those of the control group. The stomach weight and the overall BMR were significantly higher than those of the control group. These results indicated that under high-sugar and high-fat food conditions,A.chevrieri maintained energy balance by increasing body mass and digestive tract weight. This study suggests that A.chevrieri can adapt to the environment with food resource fluctuations like in the Hengduan Mountains region by changing their body mass and various digestive organs.
