Graphite has become an important raw material for emerging technology industries and has been listed as a key strategic mineral by many countries and organizations such as China, the United States, and the European Union.Especially crystalline graphite is scarce internationally, which has determined the direction of mineral exploration. The geological conditions for the formation of crystalline graphite deposits in Jiangxi are favorable, but the level of exploration and research is low.The carbon bearing layer we found in the Cambrian Sinian strata of the Luxi area in Pingxiang,Jiangxi Province has a fixed carbon grade of up to 8% or more, with an average grade of about 2% to 4%.Electron probe samples show that the maximum sheet size of crystalline graphite can reach 500 μm,while crystalline graphite samples generally have a sheet size of about 50 to 270 μm.The relatively stable sedimentary carbon bearing layer provides sufficient material sources for the formation of crystalline graphite. The Caledonian magmatic events and regional metamorphism have strengthened the temperature and pressure conditions for the formation of crystalline graphite in this area.
