摘　　要：Viral-encoded reverse transcriptase(RT)is a key component in replication(reverse transcribing viruses,generating complementary DNA from an RNA template)and genomicmutations(bacteriophage diversity-generating retroelement).Viruses that require RT to replicate their geneticmaterial include pathogens and carcinogens in plants,animals,and humans.Examples include the human immunodeficiency virus(HIV),hepatitis B virus(HBV),and cauliflower mosaic virus(CaMV)[1].
