摘　　要：1. Introduction The energy transition is testing the limits of scientific research to find solutions to today’s pressing problems. The obstacles affect not only our ability to perform goal-oriented research but also to interlink knowledge and develop novel ideas to combat problems stemming from our energy generation regime(such as global warming, pollution and loss of biodiversity).
