摘　　要：In the twenty-first century, the wealth of any society is closely tied to the degree that its people understand and support science. Whether in the United States or the People's Republic of China, it is important to educate as much of the population as possible on the nature of science, its methods, goals and ethos, and on the pervasive role science plays in our lives.
