摘　　要：African swine fever(ASF)is one of the most devastating diseases in pigs and is caused by the ASFvirus(ASFV).Since its first discovery in1921 in Kenya,ASFV has spread from Africa to other parts of the world,causing severe economic losses to the pork industry.Scientists have studied ASF for over 100 years,and many governments have tried to eradicate the disease.Nonetheless,approaches to effectively control ASF are still lacking.In recent years,ASF outbreaks have been reported in China,Belgium,Germany,Italy and many other Asian and European countries.Studies on this disease have gained new popularity.Under this background,we are organizing the special issue"African swine fever"to collect the most recent knowledge on this disease.
