摘 要:句法岛研究的核心问题在于揭示孤岛效应是语法违例现象,还是加工困难所致。本研究利用接应代词构建其与句法岛外填充词的长距离依存关系,考察英语母语者构建此类复杂句法结构的难度。依据资源限制假说,母语者因加工资源所限,在加工早期难以构建跨越句法岛的长距离依存关系。然而,本研究结果显示,在句法岛结构中,母语者在加工早期便能积极构建长距离依存关系,说明资源限制假说并不能完全解释孤岛效应。本研究对孤岛效应理论具有启示意义。For syntactic island research, a key question is whether island effects are due to the violation of grammatical principles or processing factors. Utilizing resumptive pronouns to construct long-distance dependencies with fillers outside syntactic islands, this study examines the processing difficulties in constructing such complex structures by native English speakers.According to the resource-limitation account, native speakers are constrained by limited cognitive resources and are unable to establish long-distance dependencies across syntactic islands during the early stages of processing. However, results from this eye-tracking study demonstrate that in island contexts, native speakers actively construct long-distance dependencies at the early moments of processing, suggesting that the resource-limitation account cannot fully explain the island effects.This study has implications for theories of island effects.
