晚清广东同文馆:办学特色、成效、局限及启示

摘  要:广东同文馆是晚清广东地方当局创办的广东第一所近代新式学校,其通过中学为体、西学为用的办学思想,以培养精通翻译、熟悉西学的人才为办学目标,采用分班授课、学用结合的教学方式,取得了较好的办学成效:不仅为京师同文馆输送大批优质生源,还为洋务事业培养了大批应用型人才。同时也存在一定的办学局限,主要体现在决策层的视野较狭窄、学生来源单一、中西融会贯通不足。广东同文馆重视传统文化学习、注重应用型人才培养、强调理论与实践相结合的办学理念,为当前教育提供了重要的启示与借鉴。Founded by local authorities in Guangdong during the late Qing dynasty,Guangdong Translators College was the first of its kind as a modern educational institution.Employing the educational philosophy of“Chinese learning as the foundation,Western learning for practical application”,the institution aimed to cultivate talents proficient in translation and well-versed in Western knowledge.Through a teaching approach that emphasized class-based instruction and the integration of learning with practical application,the school achieved significant success.It not only supplied a large number of high-quality students to the Jingshi Translators College in the capital but also nurtured a substantial number of practical talents for the Westernization Movement.However,the Guangdong Translators College was not without its limitations.The primary constraints lay in the narrow vision of the decision-makers,the homogeneous background of the enrolled students,and the insufficient integration of Chinese and Western knowledge.Despite these challenges,the Guangdong Translators College's emphasis on traditional learning,its focus on practical application,and its integration of theory offer valuable insights and lessons for contemporary education.
