道光二十二年廓尔喀朝贡及贡使边界逃匿事件

摘　　要：迫于英国对廓尔喀的殖民压力,廓尔喀王热尊达尔毕噶尔玛萨野于道光二十二年(1842)借例贡之机,向清廷请求“赏兵、赏银及易换属地”等。起初驻藏大臣不但没有答应廓尔喀王的请求,还以其呈递的表文将“私事叙入,冒昧乞恩”而欲“驳回另缮”。但后来驻藏大臣因恐“耽延时日,有误贡期”,才勉强令表文呈进。贡使到达北京后,受到了清廷的友好接待,并觐见了道光皇帝数次,但没有完成廓尔喀王交代的求援任务。意外的是,在使团返程途中,由于清廷伴送官员处理不当,发生了正副使从边界逃匿的事件。廓尔喀王被清廷多次拒绝后,旨在通过该事件继续“仰求赏兵赏银及易换属地”。Under pressure from British colonial influence on the Gurkha kingdom,King Rājendra Bikram Sāha took advantage of the traditional tribute mission in the 22nd year(1842)of the Emperor Daoguang's reign to request military assistance,financial aid,and territorial exchanges from the Qing court.Initially,the Amban(驻藏大臣,the imperial commissioner-resident of Xizang)in Xizang not only refused the Gurkha King's requests but also criticized the submitted memorial for“improperly including personal affairs and presumptuous pleas for favors(私事叙入,冒昧乞恩)”and intended to“reject it and demand a resubmission”.However,fearing that delays might cause the mission to miss its scheduled tribute period,the Amban reluctantly allowed the memorial to be submitted.Upon arriving in Beijing,the Gurkha envoys were warmly received by the Qing court and had several audiences with Emperor Daoguang.Despite this,they failed to secure the requested assistance for their king.Unexpectedly,during the return journey,due to mishandling by Qing officials escorting the envoys,the principal and deputy envoys escaped from the border area.Following multiple rejections from the Qing court,the Gurkha King aimed to continue his appeals for military assistance,financial aid,and territorial exchanges through this incident.
