Editors and authors of academic journals are important subjects of the academic community and the key force to maintain the benign operation and healthy development of the academic ecology. However, due to the encroachment of instrumental rationality to value rationality, the utilitarian orientation of scientific research evaluation and journal evaluation, and the decline of journal editors′ professional ethics, the relationship between editors and authors in academic journals is separated, which is mainly manifested in the imbalance between editorial power and authors′ rights, the differential order pattern of author groups, and the asymmetric relationship between subject and object. It is necessary to learn from the theory of symbiosis, highlight the subjective value of symbiosis through effective interaction, establish and improve institutional guarantee conditions, and adhere to the concept of a community with a shared future and consciously realize reciprocal symbiosis.
