The theory of differential land rent proposed by Marx in On Capital not only reveals the economic logic of capitalism land use,but also contains the ecological critical logic of capitalism's plundering of natural forces. The formation of capitalism differential land rent is rooted in the differences in land productivity, essentially the transformation of excess profits obtained by capitalism's unrestrained exploitation of natural force in pursuit of short-term economic benefits. The existence of capitalism differential land rent reflects the contradiction between the limited nature of land resources and the unlimited expansion of capital accumulation, and also leads to ecological consequences such as the deterioration of the natural environment, excessive development of resources, and the regression of human natural force.Reexamining Marx's theory of differential land rent from an ecological perspective is beneficial for better understanding the systemic damage of capitalism to the environment, and also has important implications for promoting the development of green productivity, achieving modernization of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, and advancing global ecological civilization construction in China.
